And we’re back with a bang. The international break is finally over and the Premier League returns this weekend with a gripping London derby between West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Hammers play host to their cross-city rivals at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon, looking to bounce back from defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion a fortnight ago.
Spurs are currently on a three-match winning run in the Premier League and will be hoping to climb back into the top-four this weekend, having been edged out by old north London adversaries Arsenal.

When is West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur?
Competition: Premier League
Venue: London Stadium
Date: Saturday, 20 October
Kick-off: 3:00 PM BST
Match preview
This will be the first of two clashes between West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium this month, with the two clubs locking horns 11 days later in the EFL Cup Round of 16.
Manuel Pellegrini endured a disastrous start to the season after a summer of optimism and a wave of new recruits, with the Hammers losing their opening four league matches.
However, the Chilean tactician has since steadied the ship, with his side clinching seven points from a possible nine, with a victory against Manchester United as well as commendable draws against Everton and Chelsea respectively, before succumbing to defeat against Brighton.
Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino has experienced a mixed start to the season. His side secured a 3-0 win over Man Utd at Old Trafford back in August, but that has been somewhat tarnished after they then suffered three defeats on the spin, including a home loss to Liverpool.
Spurs have picked up their domestic form since that 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last month, but their results in Europe have been underwhelming, with two defeats against Inter Milan and Barcelona.
These two sides clashed three time last season; Spurs winning in the league match at the London Stadium, West Ham progressing through the EFL Cup at Wembley and both sides sharing the spoils at Wembley in the Premier League.
Where can I watch live?
West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur will not be shown live in the UK.
However, it will be available to watch on fuboTV.
What can Spurs achieve this season?
Since Pochettino took the reins at White Hart Lane in 2014, Spurs have made immense progress, with the club finishing 5th in 2015, 3rd in 2016, 2nd in 2017 and 3rd last season.
On top of that, Spurs have played an aseptically pleasing brand of football, accelerated the growth of homegrown talent and clinched impressive results in the Champions League.
The question then turns to whether the Argentine has the capabilities of winning something tangible for the club. They are struggling in Europe already and with the powerhouses of Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea dominating the Premier League, it may be that Pochettino’s only chance of success will come in domestic cup competitions.
Was the Brighton defeat just a blip for Pellegrini?
Serious question marks were raised when West Ham suffered their fourth defeat on the bounce in the Premier League against Wolves last month, but since then, Pellegrini has changed the club’s fortunes in remarkable fashion.
With an abundance of attacking talent at his disposal in Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Marko Arnautovic, Pellegrini reverted to a three-man central midfield after Wolves and the front three have flourished.
Points against Everton, Chelsea and Man Utd were brilliant achievements, but the club fell short against Brighton last time out. This match will be a true test to see how far West Ham have come under the stewardship of Pellegrini.
Will Harry Kane be back to his best?
The international break provided some excellent insight into the form of some of England’s current stars. Kane has been the topic of much discussion this season, with many fans and pundits believing the striker is suffering from post-World Cup fatigue.
Despite this, the 25-year-old has still scored six goals in 10 matches across all competitions, but his work-rate in the final third has lacked the cutting edge we tend to associate with the Golden Boot winner.
Kane looked back to his best in England’s 3-2 win against Spain earlier this week, setting up two goals, and completely dominating Sergio Ramos and Nacho. This could be the turning point for Kane and Spurs.
Head-to-head
Since the Premier League started, West Ham have defeated Spurs on 14 occasions, while the north London club have triumphed 21 times and there have also been nine draws between the sides.
Spurs also hold the overall advantage against the Hammers, having won 94 times, drawn 52 and lost just 63 since the club’s first match over a century ago.
West Ham wins: 63 Draws: 52 Tottenham Hotspur wins: 94
Team news
Robert Snodgrass withdrew from the Scotland squad during the international break due to injury but will return for this weekend’s clash, while Javier Hernandez and Arthur Masuaku are expected to be back in contention, after they suffered illness and an ankle injury respectively.
Elsewhere, Carlos Sanchez, Andy Carroll, Jack Wilshere, Winston Reid and Manuel Lanzini remain long-term absentees for the club.
Spurs are without Jan Vertonghen, who has been ruled out until December, while Danny Rose withdrew from the England squad but should be available.
Christian Eriksen is also set to make a comeback against West Ham with Pochettino confirming his return to full fitness, but Dele Alli remains on the sidelines.
Moussa Dembele and Victor Wanyama are also both doubts for the clash.
Predicted West Ham United XI: Fabianski; Fredericks, Diop, Balbuena, Cresswell; Rice, Noble, Obiang; Anderson, Arnautovic, Yarmolenko.
Predicted Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris; Trippier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Davies; Lucas, Winks, Eriksen, Dier, Son; Kane.
Predictions & Betting Tips
1. Both teams to score and Tottenham win @ 11/5
This match tends to provide plenty of goals and given that Spurs are the joint-fifth highest scorers this season – alongside Liverpool – and the fact that West Ham have conceded 13, it seems unlikely either side will fire a blank.
West Ham have only netted eight times this term, but look to have found their shooting boots in recent weeks, aside from the Brighton defeat. The Hammers usually find the back of the net against Spurs, but Eriksen’s return could be the deciding factor.
Key stat: Tottenham have failed to keep a clean sheet against West Ham in their last eight encounters.

2. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals @ 19/20
In the three meetings last season there were 12 goals, with both sides finding the back of the net on six occasions, and there is no reason why the goals will dry up this time around.
West Ham now play a more attacking style under their new coach, while Spurs have scored nine goals in their last five matches, including two against Barcelona.
Key stat: West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur has finished with a 3-2 scoreline in three of the last five matches.
Tip: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals @ 19/20 with William Hill – bet here.

3. Harry Kane to score first @ 13/5
Kane has netted three goals in his last three matches, and despite not finding the back of the net with England, the Spurs marksman looked back to his best in terms of his overall performance.
This will be a massive opportunity for Kane to make his mark and, given Eriksen’s likely involvement, this could spell trouble for the Hammers.
Key stat: Harry Kane has netted six goals in his last six matches against West Ham.
