Chelsea left-back will not leave in January, according to agent

Chelsea defender Emerson will not leave the club in the immediate future amid interest from Serie A side Inter Milan, according to the player’s agent.

Emerson has struggled for first-team opportunities since his arrival in west London last January.

Should Emerson switch the Premier League for Serie A? Four things you need to know…

  1. Emerson moved to England from AS Roma for a reported £17.6million
  2. The 24-year-old only made five Premier League appearances last season after joining.
  3. This season, Emerson has only made two league outings, with Maurizio Sarri opting to use the Italian international in the Europa League.
  4. Emerson’s agent has revealed that there is interest in his client from Inter Milan, though he will be staying at Chelsea.

With Emerson out of the Chelsea starting XI, his future at Stamford Bridge is understandably up in the air, with the Italy international clearly too talented to simply warm the bench.

The player’s agent, Fernando Garcia, has spoken to reporters regarding his clients future, revealing that there is interest in Emerson from Italy. However, he also added that Emerson won’t be leaving Chelsea anytime soon having only made the transition from Roma to the Blues last campaign.

“I think all the top European clubs would like to have a player like Emerson Palmieri in their squad,” said Garcia.

“There has been some interest, although nothing formal, so there is nothing to report now.

“I cannot talk about the clubs who approached us. I don’t think he’ll leave Chelsea now.”

Chelsea’s busy transfer window

The Blues are a club very much in transition at the minute, with Maurizio Sarri still in the early days of fashioning a squad capable of playing to his way of thinking.

The priority for Chelsea at the moment is to fill the void up front, with neither Alvaro Morata or Olivier Giroud getting the goals the club needs to progress further, both domestically and in Europe.

Sarri has already spent £54 million on Borussia Dortmund youngster Christian Pulisic, who will arrive in the summer.

With the Blues still after a striker, certain players who are outside the starting XI may be allowed to seek pastures new elsewhere, with Emerson one of those who will perhaps be allowed to leave.
