Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost has penned a new three-year contract extension at the club.
The 29-year-old Dutch marksman will now remain in the Portuguese capital until 2021 despite requesting to leave at the back-end of last season.
Dost and several of his Sporting teammates, as well as coaches, were recently injured following an attack by around 50 masked men at the club’s training ground – leaving him needing stitches – overshadowing another exemplary season with the Lisbon giants.
His commitment is in contrast to others, notably William Carvalho and Rui Patricio, who have since departed for Real Betis and Wolves respectively.

Since joining from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2016 he’s been a revelation, bagging 70 goals across 90 matches in all competitions.
In the league it’s been more impressive, 61 goals in 61 appearances, though it hasn’t translated to international football. Dost, who recently ended his involvement with the Dutch national team, would only register one goal in 18 games.
