Kylian Mbappe is the first “young alien” of his kind, says France teammate Varane

World Cup winner Raphael Varane has confessed that he believes wonderkid Kylian Mbappe is the first “young alien” of his kind because he is so good.

France defeated Croatia 4-2 in the World Cup final in Russia to win their second World Cup trophy, and first since they hosted the tournament in 1998.

Mbappe scored with a clever finish in the second half of the match to make him only the second teenager to score in a World Cup final after Brazil legend Pele.

In fact only the Brazil legend has scored more goals as a teenager at a single World Cup than Mbappe who finished with four goals in Russia. Pele netted a remarkable six when he came to world’s attention in 1958, helping Brazil to beat hosts Sweden in the final.

Having starred for club side Paris Saint-Germain last season, Mbappe has the world at his feet. France teammate Varane believes that the youngster is so good that he simply isn’t from this world.

“I have known some aliens,” Varane told L’Equipe.

“I think this is the first time I have met a young alien.

“Normally I meet extraterrestrials when they are 25, 30 years old. At the World Cup, I met one under the age of 20.

“With him, everything goes faster. When I talk tactically with him before the matches, I do not have time to finish my sentences before he has already understood and assimilated what I’m saying.”

Mbappe has now returned to France with his club future still in the balance with consistent interest from Real Madrid sure to continue over the coming weeks.
