Bordeaux forward Malcom is in talks with Roma over a potential move despite being tipped to join Premier League side Everton, according to the player’s agent.
Malcom, 21, has long been linked with a move away from the French club and appeared to be close to a move to Everton after Inter Milan had failed to agree a deal with Bordeaux.
But, according to reports, Roma are now joining the race for the exciting winger’s signature owing to their new-found riches as a result of Alisson’s proposed £66m move to Everton’s rivals Liverpool.
And Malcom’s agent, Fernando Garcia, has confirmed he will be entering talks with Roma and sporting director Monchi over the proposed move.
“In the next few hours I’ll have contact with [sporting director] Monchi,” he told TeleRadioStereo (via Football Italia).
“The player would like to come to Italy.
“How much does he cost? I just take care of the lad’s contract.”
The latest revelation comes shortly after Monchi hinted to reporters about a potential move for the Brazilian this summer.
He said: “Malcom seemed crazy and today you tell me that’s a possibility. It’s fair to say that too, not just talk about Nainggolan and Alisson but also about the signings.
“There’s about a month left until the end of the transfer window, there are many reasons to hope.
Malcom proved too tricky for Ligue 1 defences
Missing just three games in Ligue 1 last season, Malcom was a big player for Bordeaux, scoring 12 goals and recording seven assists.
The Brazilian showed his ability and trickery on the ball, completing 93 take-ons – the fifth-highest in Ligue 1, with a 66% success rate.
More telling, however, is the fact that only Nabil Fekir (105), Neymar (104) and Jimmy Briand (95) were fouled more times than Malcom (92) last season.
