Man City goalkeeper Joe Hart open to going overseas for “important” role

Joe Hart has said that “there is no league he would say no to” in his search for a permanent move away from Manchester City to get first-team football.

The Englishman has been out on loan for the past two seasons but wants his next move to be a permanent one as he looks to get his career back on track.

Hart has had loan spells at Torino in Italy and fellow Premier League side West Ham United in the past two years, in what he said was an effort to get back into the England side for the 2018 World Cup.

That effort was unsuccessful as Hart was left out of the squad, despite featuring heavily in qualifying.

And Hart told BBC Sport that he does not want another loan move, saying: “I did what I did in the previous two seasons because I needed to play to be involved in the World Cup, and look where that got me.

“I’m experienced, I’ve played at the highest level for a long time, and done a lot of things in the game.

“I need to be an important player at that club and I think that can only happen with a permanent move.”

City boss, Pep Guardiola, has recently said that he is seeking a solution for Hart’s situation and that he would be happy for him to stay at the club if an alternative cannot be found.

But Hart has insisted he has to do what is right for himself at this stage of his career and that moving to another league is not off the table.

He said: “I love all the leagues. I’ve shown that. I went out to Serie A and I loved Serie A. Leagues are there to be played in.

“There’s no league that I’d say no to. I’m open, but I want to do what’s right for me at this point of my career and I want to give all of myself to the right cause.”

Joe Hart’s fall from grace

Joe Hart was an ever-present for England at the 2012 and 2016 European Championships, as well as the 2014 World Cup.

However, a costly error in England’s defeat against Iceland at the 2016 European Championships in France, as well as a drop in form in his subsequent loan moves, has seen Hart’s reputation called into question.

Despite being heavily involved in England’s World Cup qualifying campaign and having 75 caps for his country, Gareth Southgate omitted Hart from the 23-man squad that went to Russia.

He instead took Jack Butland and Nick Pope to Russia as back-up for Everton stopper Jordan Pickford –  the ex-Sunderland goalkeeper turned a lot of heads with a string of impressive displays en route to England’s fourth-placed finish.
