Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has refuted allegations suggesting a rift between star players Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Both joined the Parisian-based club last summer for a reported £318m with Neymar, after swapping Barcelona for the Parc des Princes, subsequently becoming the world’s most expensive footballer.
Recently there’s been reports it’s not all good between the pair, but Al-Khelaifi has rubbished them, stressing it could not be any more different.
“Neymar and Mbappe have a very good relationship. They get on well with each other,” he said (via Goal).
“Everything else is just made up stories by journalists. It is impossible that there would be bad blood between them. They are happy to play together.
“The reintroduction of Mbappe and Neymar is scheduled for the start of the month. What is clear is neither of them will be going anywhere.”
A blossoming partnership?
Neymar, as mentioned, became the world’s most expensive footballer last summer after the Ligue 1 powerhouse activated his £198 million buyout clause.
Mbappe soon followed, ending a five-year association with Monaco where he became a French champion, initially on loan though PSG will permanently acquire his services thus making him the most expensive teenager, and second most expensive player, behind teammate Neymar.
Speaking of whom, Neymar’s debut season was cut short following a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle which he sustained during the Parisian’s league win over Marseille in January.
Before the setback Neymar and Mbappe would feature together in 23 matches; they would combine to score six goals between them, while Neymar would assist Mbappe three times and Mbappe would return the favour on three occasions.
