Roma chief Monchi confirms that Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson has arrived in Liverpool for what is expected to be a world record transfer fee for a ‘keeper.
Roma have reportedly accepted a fee in the region of £67.5m for Allison who is supposedly undergoing a medical in Liverpool.
Roma’s sporting director Monchi says that the negotiations aren’t final, but it was the “substantial” offer made by the Anfield outfit that encouraged the club to speak to Liverpool.
“We haven’t finalised anything yet [with Alisson],” Monchi says. “But it is true that the negotiations are advanced and he’s over in Liverpool now.
“When a very substantial offer comes in, you have to consider it. We weighed up the pros and cons and decided to speak to Liverpool.”
Monchi insists that releasing Allison to a European rival doesn’t indicate a lack of ambition on the part of the club, but if anything, demonstrates the club’s ambition going forward.
Monchi: "Selling Alisson would not show a lack of ambition. For me, ambition is about doing the right thing after thinking everything through.

Alisson’s signing will have severe consequences for German stopper Loris Karius who will almost certainly lose his place in the starting XI.
Karius may be questioning whether Liverpool’s quest to sign a new ‘keeper relates to his two blunders in the Champions League final, which ultimately cost the Reds two goals and arguably the European Cup.
However, Liverpool’s pursuit for the Brazilian may have happened regardless, as Karius has failed to prove himself as an elite level ‘keeper since joining the club.
