Brazilian star Neymar claims that Cristiano Ronaldo‘s move to Juventus will reignite Serie A as one of the greatest football leagues in the world.
Ronaldo completed his move to the Italian giants last week after spending nine years in La Liga with Real Madrid.
The Portuguese superstar hinted that he wanted to leave Los Blancos after he helped them secure a third consecutive and fourth Champions League title in five years.
Ronaldo was linked with several possible moves over the last couple of months including a return to Manchester United where he developed to become one of the world’s greatest players. The star opted for Turin instead to face what he described as a ” brand new challenge.”
Neymar, who is rumoured to be replacing the Portugal international at Real, told reporters that Ronaldo is a genius and that his move will change Italian football.
“Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure for Juventus will change Italian football,” Neymar said(via Goal).
“It will once again be the Italian football that I saw as a child.
“Cristiano is a great player, is a football legend, a genius, so we have to respect him.”
Ronaldo netted an otherworldly 450 goals in 438 games across all competitions for Madrid, winning La Liga twice and the Champions League four times.
However, Serie A is a markedly more physical league than La Liga, so it remains to be seen if Ronaldo can replicate his goalscoring record for Juventus.
