Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has admitted he could still leave the club amid doubts surrounding his future.
Karius, 25, had been the club’s number one goalkeeper towards the end of last season having usurped Simon Mignolet.
But two high-profile mistakes in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid led Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to look elsewhere for a goalkeeper, with Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson brought in for a world-record fee of £67m.
And Karius, who only joined Liverpool two years ago from Mainz, has admitted he is now considering his future at the club.
“Of course, this is not perfect for me, but I cannot say much more about it,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mirror.
When asked if he would leave the club, he added: “I don’t know. I can’t say what I’m doing right now. There’s still some time left.”
With Simon Mignolet and Alisson both yet to return to Liverpool following their World Cup campaigns, Karius has been entrusted in goal for the Reds in their pre-season so far.
But the German has not had the best of luck; first he was shown fumbling a ball during the warm-up ahead of a Liverpool friendly, and then there was a mistake against Tranmere Rovers which led to a goal.
And a third mistake came in the 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the International Champions Cup on Sunday as he parried Pulisic’s shot straight into the path of Jacob Bruun Larsen to put the game past Liverpool late on.
