AC Milan complete signings of Diego Laxalt and Samu Castillejo

AC Milan have completed the double signing of Spanish forward Samu Castillejo and Uruguayan midfielder Diego Laxalt.

Castillejo, 23, joins from Villarreal where he made no fewer than 127 appearances in all competitions whilst 25-year-old Laxalt ends a two-year association with Genoa, in which he featured across 117 matches, by relocating to the Lombardy capital.

Their respective acquisitions brings the number of new faces arriving at the San Siro to nine, with French midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko (albeit on loan) also completing a move from Chelsea this week, and the pair will be Milan’s final signings this summer.

Bacca gone

As Milan say hello to Castillejo and Laxalt they also say goodbye to striker Carlos Bacca and midfielder Gianluca Lapadula.

Bacca, 31, returns to Villarreal where he bagged 18 goals across 43 matches for The Yellow Submarine last season on loan.

Lapadula, meanwhile, joins Genoa. The 28-year-old could only manage 27 league outings for the Rossoneri across the past two seasons.

Milan begin their 2018/19 Serie A campaign away to Napoli on August 25 after this weekend’s match with Genoa was postponed.
