Schalke 04 have confirmed the signing of Sebastian Rudy from Bayern Munich on a four-year deal.
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder subsequently ends a one-year association with the German champions, whom he joined from Hoffenheim in 2017, with the Bavarians receiving a reported €16m.
Near ever-present across the 2017/18 campaign, he featured in no fewer than 25 Bundesliga outings, though it became clear Rudy wasn’t part of new boss Niko Kovac’s plans, leaving with the club’s blessings.
“I’d like to thank Sebastian for his performances,” chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the club’s official website.
“Last season he played an important part in winning the sixth league title in succession. We wish Sebastian all the best for the future.”

A graduate of VfB Stuttgart’s academy Rudy would make 29 official appearances for the senior team before joining Hoffenheim in 2010, where he truly established himself.
Across 212 outings for Die Kraichgauer he would register 12 goals and 35 assists which attracted Bayern’s interest, where the 26-time capped German international played 35 times before saying goodbye.
Schalke 04, who lost their Bundesliga opening fixture away to Wolfsburg, face Hertha Berlin at home on September 2, a fixture which could see Rudy making his debut.
