Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar admits “it would be very difficult” for him to face his former club Barcelona.
The Brazilian forward believes playing against his old team-mates in the Champions League would be tough, with many of them still considered friends by the Ligue 1 star.
Neymar once again visited many of his old Barca team-mates this week amid rumours that he might sign for their fiercest rivals Real Madrid.
The player admits he misses his former colleagues, while further denying he will be leaving Paris for Madrid anytime soon.
“It would be very difficult for me to face Barca in the Champions League,” Neymar is cited as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.
“I speak with almost all the Barca players and still miss them, they are very good friends and they are very good players so I would be happy to face them in that regard, but not as a club.”
He also thinks that compatriot and new signing Arthur will be an excellent addition at Barcelona following the Brazilian’s £35m move from Gremio this summer.
“Arthur Melo? He is a great player and I’m sure he will show Barca what he is capable of.”
It would take a massive fee for Real Madrid to prise Neymar back to Spain, but the player was quick to close any doors on a possible departure from the French capital.
When questioned about his future the player said: “My future? I have a contract with PSG and I will be staying there.”
There have been a number of rumours about Neymar’s future, with many citing that the player’s desire for Champions League success is one possible reason why he might choose to leave the French club, but that now appears unlikely following his recent statement.
Barcelona have started their La Liga title defence with two victories and take on Huesca at the Nou Camp next.
