Against Marco Silva’s wishes? Everton forward Sandro Ramirez loaned to Real Sociedad

Everton forward Sandro Ramirez has joined La Liga side Real Sociedad on a season-long loan.

Sandro joined Everton last summer for £5.2 million after scoring 16 goals in 31 games for Malaga, but the 23-year-old has struggled to make his mark on Merseyside, scoring just one goal in 16 outings.

The former Barcelona forward also spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, where he again struggled, failing to score at all in his 18 games there.

And, despite putting in a good performance in Everton’s 3-1 League Cup win over Rotherham on Wednesday night, it has now been confirmed that he will have another loan spell away from the club.

Silva wanted Everton stay for Sandro Ramirez

The loan move may come as a surprise to many Evertonians, considering that Sandro had a lot of game time during pre-season and manager Marco Silva’s recent comments about wanting to keep the Spaniard at the club.

Following Everton’s League Cup win on Wednesday, he told Sky Sports: “Even with what has happened with Sandro I believe in him, he showed me tonight he is a fantastic professional and for me I am not surprised.

“Even if I knew someone called up in the next hour and it is something Sandro is trying to find, I would like if I would stay with him in the squad because he is a player I believe in.

“Sometimes the players want to play more and it is not easy to keep all of them. It is not easy to play in our starting XI for all, not just Sandro. Sandro, of course, wants to play, last season wasn’t the best for him and we will see what will happen.”

Everton have drawn Southampton in the next round of the League Cup, while their next Premier League fixture is against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
