Yaya Toure passes medical at unnamed London club according to agent

Former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has undergone a medical at a London club, according to the player’s agent.

Toure, 35, is currently unattached having left City at the end of last season, bringing to a close his eight-year association with the club.

The Ivorian international has been linked with various clubs over the summer for his next adventure but no deal ever materialised.

But now, Toure’s agent, Dimitry Seluk, has claimed the midfielder has passed a medical in London ahead of a proposed move to the London club.

“Toure has passed a medical in London. Yaya is close to signing a new contract.” he revealed on Twitter.

Though in a follow up Tweet, Seluk confirmed the London club is not West Ham United – ending speculation of a reunion with former City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

He added: “It’s not West Ham, 100%. Yaya is a champion. The last place is not for him.”

Crystal Palace were also ruled out by Seluk, with the agent harking back to the infamous birthday spat between Toure and Manchester City.

“It’s not Crystal Palace, 100%. Roy Hodgson said he doesn’t know when his players’ birthdays are. Can Yaya go there?”

With West Ham and Palace as well as Fulham likely ruled out on the basis of Toure’s successes as a player, only Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur would represent likely destinations for the 35-year-old.

However, with the English transfer window and registration for the Premier League now closed until January, Toure would not be able to officially register for a London club until the start of 2019 – keeping him out of competitive action for the first half of the season.

Yaya is a champion – Seluk

Toure’s agent Seluk put to bed reports of a move to the likes of West Ham due to the midfielder’s successes, and the Ivorian has enjoyed a trophy-laden career to date.

Since winning his first league and cup double with Olympiacos in 2006, Toure has won 14 major trophies across three clubs.

At Barcelona, the Ivorian won two La Liga titles as well as the Copa del Rey, Champions League and Club World Cup once.

Seven trophies came in eight years at City, with three Premier Leagues, three League Cups and one FA Cup capping off a fine spell.

The midfielder also won the 2015 African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast.
