Real Madrid have sent their teenage goalkeeper Andriy Lunin on a season-long loan to fellow La Liga side Leganes.
Lunin, 19, joined the European Champions in the summer from Ukrainian outfit Zorya Luhansk for a fee in the region of £8m.
However, the newly-appointed Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui moved quickly to strengthen his armoury between the sticks and recruited Chelsea gloveman Thibaut Courtois for a reduced fee of £35m.
This has now opened the door for Lunin to seek some first-team experience elsewhere and he has chosen to relocate to the outskirts of Madrid with Los Pepineros.
On the club’s official website, Los Blancos disclosed details in regards to the transfer: “Real Madrid C. F. and C. D. Leganes have reached an agreement over the loan of Andriy Lunin for the current campaign, in a deal running until 30 June 2019.”
Lunin will be linking up with former Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque and he will be competing with the experienced Ivan Cuellar and captain Jon Ander Serantes for the first-team berth.
Incidentally, Leganes next match is a trip to the Spanish capital as they take on Real Madrid this Saturday having taken just one point from their opening two La Liga games so far.
