After his good start to the season with Everton, Richarlison has earned a first call-up to the latest Brazil squad.
Richarlison joined the Toffees this summer for £40m from Watford and hit the ground running, scoring three goals in his first three appearances.
The 21-year-old had initially been left out of Brazil’s squad for their upcoming friendlies against the United States and El Salvador, admitting his disappointment at his exclusion.
“I was really looking forward to the call,” he told UOL Esporte (via Liverpool Echo).
“I watched with great anticipation, but unfortunately it was not this time.
“I can not say why (I have not been called), there are 24 names and it’s difficult for the coach to choose, I’ll keep working to be on the next list.
“I feel more prepared, I already know the rhythm and style of the Premier League, which helps me on the way to the achievements.
“I want to be the top scorer of the league, take Everton back to the Champions League and therefore reach the Brazilian national team.”
But following Fluminense forward Pedro dropping out of the squad due to injury, Richarlison has been handed his first senior call-up.
Subsequently, Richarlison is also the first Everton player to be called up for Brazil while playing for the club at the sixth attempt.
The five other Brazilians to have played for Everton so far are summer signing Bernard, Felipe Mattioni, Jô, Anderson Silva and Rodrigo Beckham.
Richarlison will go into the international break fresh having been sent off in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at the weekend, missing their Premier League games against Huddersfield Town and West Ham United, as well as their Carabao Cup tie with Rotherham, as a result.
