The European transfer deadline is fast approaching now, with clubs no longer able to do any business past this Friday.
Premier League clubs were made to finalise their new signings before the start of the new season, but that hasn’t stopped them from offloading players who are surplus to requirements over the last few weeks.
Here are some European deals from the final week of the transfer window that may not have been on your radar.
1. Sebastian Rudy
From: Bayern Munich
To: Schalke
Fee: £14.4m
When? Monday, August 27th

Bayern Munich’s new manager Niko Kovac had made no secret of his desire to move some midfield players on this summer, with the Bundesliga Champions well stocked in the centre of the park. Rudy always looked likely to seek a new challenge, despite having only spent one season at the Allianz Arena.
Schalke are to take part in this season’s Champions League and look to be on the rise again under the management of Domenico Tedesco.
2. Goncalo Guedes
From: PSG
To: Valencia
Fee: £36m
When? Monday, August 27th

— Valencia CF English 🦇 (@valenciacf_en) August 27, 2018
Guedes is said to have been holding out for a permanent move to Valencia throughout this summer, having impressed at the Mestalla while on loan during the 2017/18 season. The Portugal forward joined PSG from Benfica in a deal worth over £25m in January 2017 but struggled to break through into the first team. With six goals and 11 assists to his name last season, Guedes will be one to watch for Valencia this year.
3. Seydou Doumbia
From: Sporting Lisbon
To: Girona
Fee: Undisclosed
When: Tuesday, August 28th

Ivory Coast forward Doumbia made Girona the 13th club of his nomadic career after penning a 3-year deal with the La Liga side on Tuesday. The 30-year-old made a name for himself during his time with CSKA Moscow, scoring 84 goals in 130 appearances. Since then he has had spells with the likes of Roma, Newcastle United and Basel.
4. Kevin Strootman
From: AS Roma
To: Marseille
Fee: £22.5m

An impressive signing for Marseille. Strootman has been one of Roma’s most consistent performers over the last few years. Rudi Garcia, who is now in charge of the Ligue 1 side, was the manager at Roma when Strootman signed from PSV Eindhoven in 2013. The Dutchman is the third high profile exit from Roma this summer, with Alisson leaving for Liverpool in a deal worth £66.8m and Radja Nainggolan joining Inter for £33m.
5. Paco Alcacer
From: Barcelona
To: Borussia Dortmund
Fee: Season-long loan
When? Tuesday, August 28th
It's official!

— Borussia Dortmund (@BlackYellow) August 28, 2018
After a summer of speculation linking Dortmund with a number of different strikers, Spain forward Paco Alcacer is the one that they’ve decided to take on loan for this season. Lucien Favre’s side were said to be interested in re-signing Michy Batshuayi and also showed an interest in Liverpool’s Divock Origi. Paco will be looking to prove himself in one of Europe’s top leagues this season having struggled to compete with the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Barcelona.
6. Marco Borriello
From: S.P.A.L.
To: UD Ibiza
Fee: Free
When? Tuesday, August 28th

— UD Ibiza (@ibizaud) August 30, 2018
Not the worst place to see out the rest of your career, is it? Borriello is now 36 and moves to the Balearic Islands having spent most of his career in Italy. UD Ibiza were promoted to Spain’s third division for the first time this year after being founded in 2015. Borriello’s best years came at Genoa, Milan and Roma and the former Italy striker has also had spells with Juventus, West Ham and, most recently, Cagliari.
7. Benjamin Henrichs
From: Bayer Leverkusen
To: Monaco
Fee: £18m

Another eye-catching signing for Monaco. The 21-year-old is seen as one of Germany’s most exciting young talents and is able to play in a number of different positions across the defence and in midfield. Henrichs came through the academy ranks with Leverkusen and made his first-team debut in 2015.
8. Badou Ndiaye
From: Stoke City
To: Galatasaray
Fee: Season-long loan
When? Tuesday, August 28th

— Galatasaray EN (@Galatasaray) August 28, 2018
Senegal midfielder Ndiaye joined Stoke from Galatasaray in January for a fee in the region of £14m, but the club’s relegation left him seeking an early exit. His former side expressed an interest in re-signing him again and Ndiaye made no secret of his desire to return to Turkey. The deal was completed on Tuesday and Ndiaye will be playing Champions League football for Fatih Terim’s side this season.
9. Gianelli Imbula
From: Stoke City
To: Rayo Vallecano
Fee: Season-long loan
When? Thursday, August 30th
OFICIAL | @GianImbula25 es oficialmente nuevo jugador del Rayo Vallecano 2018-19. Llega cedido desde el @stokecity por una temporada.
¡Bienvenido Imbula!⚡️ pic.twitter.com/qpixLq27eC— Rayo Vallecano (@RayoVallecano) August 30, 2018
Imbula is another Stoke City midfielder that was free to leave this summer as the club adjusts to life in the Championship. The signing of the former Porto midfielder was seen as a huge coup when he arrived in a club record £18m deal in January 2016. But the 25-year-old has been unable to adjust to life in England and spent last season on loan with Ligue 1 side Toulouse.
10. Sheyi Ojo
From: Liverpool
To: Reims
Fee: Season-long loan
When? Thursday, August 30th

— Stade de Reims (@StadeDeReims) August 30, 2018
Ojo has shown a lot of promise while coming through the ranks at Liverpool, but manager Jürgen Klopp has not included him in his plans for this season. It’s been reported that the Reds were willing to listen to permanent offers for Ojo this summer, but the winger has instead signed a new contract and will spend the 2018/19 season on loan with Ligue 1 side Reims. He spent last season on loan with Fulham and has also had spells with Wigan and Wolves.
11. Ola Toivonen
From: Toulouse
To: Melbourne Victory
Fee: Undisclosed

— Melbourne Victory (@gomvfc) August 31, 2018
Toivonen, now 32, had a remarkable World Cup with Sweden and scored in their memorable group clash with Germany. He has spent the last 4 years playing his club football in France with Rennes and Toulouse, with his best years coming for PSV in Holland. The A-League side have also added Japan midfielder Keisuke Honda to their ranks this summer.
12. Nemanja Radonjic
From: Red Star Belgrade
To: Marseille
Fee: £10.8m
When? Thursday, August 30th
Bienvenue dans l'OM Nation Nemanja ! #NemanjaEstOlympien #OMnation pic.twitter.com/TK2vHrsaul
— Olympique de Marseille (@OM_Officiel) August 30, 2018
Radonjic is Marseille’s fourth major signing of the summer after the arrivals of Duje Caleta-Car, Jordan Amavi and Kevin Strootman. The Serbian winger has featured for his country on 5 occasions and played a part in this summer’s World Cup. He netted 11 goals for Red Star last season, helping them on their way to the Serbian League title and qualification for this season’s Champions League, where they’ve been drawn in a group with PSG, Napoli and Liverpool.
13. Sandro Ramirez
From: Everton
To: Real Sociedad
Fee: Season-long loan
When? Thursday, August 30th
ℹ️ OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Agreement for Sandro Ramírez to play on loan #OngiEtorriSandro #RealSociedad ⬇️ https://t.co/JTmZQQEW64
— Real Sociedad (@RealSociedadEN) August 30, 2018
The Everton forward has failed to impress on Merseyside so far after arriving from Malaga in July 2017. He made 15 appearances and scored 1 goal for The Toffees before joining Sevilla on loan in January. Sandro actually started for Everton on Wednesday evening in their Carabao Cup win over Rotherham United, only to complete a move to Sociedad the following day.
14. Nacer Chadli
From: West Brom
To: Monaco
Fee: £10m
When? Thursday, August 30th
🤝 L’AS Monaco est heureux d’annoncer la signature pour trois ans de Nacer Chadli (29 ans) en provenance de West Bromwich Albion ! #WelcomeToMonaco pic.twitter.com/zSpeDGBMZW
— AS Monaco (@AS_Monaco) August 30, 2018
Chadli did his chances of a summer transfer no harm during the World Cup after featuring in 6 of Belgium’s seven matches in Russia. He even got himself a crucial goal in their last-16 tie against Japan. The former Spurs man was always likely to move on this summer following West Brom’s relegation to the Championship and will be delighted at the prospect of featuring in the Champions League this season.
15. M’Baye Niang
From: Torino
To: Rennes
Fee: Season-long loan
When: Thursday, August 30th
🆕 Le #StadeRennais F.C. est fier d'enregistrer l'arrivée de l'international sénégalais, @MBaye9Niang.

— Stade Rennais F.C. (@staderennais) August 30, 2018
A player regarded as one of Europe’s next star attacking players as a youngster, Niang has had an interesting career to date and is still only 23. Milan snapped him up from Caen in 2012 and he went on to have loan spells with Montpellier, Genoa, Watford and Torino. You could say that he single-handedly stopped Watford from being relegated in the 2016/17 season and the Senegal forward will now spend the remainder of this season with Rennes in France.
16. Youssouf Mulumbu
From: Unattached
To: Celtic
Fee: Free
When: Friday, August 31st
We can confirm the signing of Youssouf Mulumbu on a two-year deal.

— Celtic Football Club (@CelticFC) August 31, 2018
This is a transfer that many felt would go through earlier than it has this summer. Nevertheless, Celtic wrapped up the signing of the former West Brom and Norwich man on transfer deadline day. The midfielder spent last season with Kilmarnock and scored the winner against his new side in their SPL clash in February.
Wildcard – Jonathan Walters
From: Burnley
To: Ipswich Town
Fee: Loan until January
When? Thursday, August 30th
✍️ | We are delighted to announce the return of @JonWalters19 on loan from @BurnleyOfficial until January.

— Ipswich Town FC (@Official_ITFC) August 30, 2018
We couldn’t not include this one. Walters’ spent an uneventful 2017/18 season at Burnley where he only managed six appearances. The forward caught the eye of a number of Premier League sides during his initial spell with Ipswich, with Stoke signing him in 2010. He managed 32 goals in 146 appearances at Portman Road last time and has now signed a loan deal which will keep him with Paul Hurst’s side until January.
