Marcus Rashford handed the Man Utd No.10 shirt against Bayern

Manchester United appear to have named Marcus Rashford as the club’s new number 10 ahead of the upcoming season.

The 20-year-old starts for United in their final pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena having recently returned early from his holiday to help out manager Jose Mourinho.

Rashford was only set to return to training on Sunday after playing a part in England’s run to the World Cup third-place play-off match, in which they lost 2-0 to Belgium.

And now, Rashford appears to have been made the club’s new number 10, replacing Zlatan Ibrahimovic who gave up the jersey upon leaving for LA Galaxy in March.

Before Ibrahimovic, the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Teddy Sheringham, David Beckham and Roy Keane have all worn the number 10 for United.

However, they have not always been big names with Alan Brazil, Garth Crooks and Lou Macari also represented United at 10 for a season each.

United are yet to make any official announcement over the number, however, leaving the club’s fans in the dark over whether Rashford will be the permanent number 10.

Rashford has previously worn the number 19 at United, since the 2016/17 season when he became a regular member of the Red Devils’ first team having been number 39 in his debut campaign.

United fans react to Rashford’s new number

Despite the lack of clarify over the permanence of Rashford at 10, United fans were excited to see the 20-year-old don a new number.
