Alexandre Lacazette speaks out on rumours of Arsenal exit

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has hit out at rumours suggesting he wants to leave the Gunners, stating he is “happy” at the club.

The French forward has confirmed that he is happy at Arsenal, despite rumours suggesting that he may have been loaned out before the transfer window shut.

The 27-year-old France international scored the winner against Cardiff on Sunday to give the Gunners their first away victory of the season.

Lacazette, who signed from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon in 2017 for £46.5m, had been on the bench for the first three Premier League games this season but has denied rumours that he wanted to leave the Emirates.

“I don’t know who said this stuff, but I am at one of the best clubs in London and I am happy at Arsenal,” Lacazette told Sky Sports.

“It’s always going to be hard to be in the first XI at a club like this, but I always keep fighting and working.

“I won’t play every week just because of one game.

“Every day I have to work and show the coach I work well and I deserve my place.”

Lacazette’s performance against Cardiff was impressive, with the striker scoring the winner nine minutes from time. He also linked up well with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the Gunner’s second.

Since the Gabon international joined in January from Borussia Dortmund, the pair have only played together on four occasions yet have scored seven goals between them in those matches.

Lacazette believes that the two of them complement each other and enjoys playing with the former Dortmund man.

“It’s nice to play together because we complement each other’s strengths,” said Lacazette.

“He deserved to score because he has worked so hard since the start of the season.

“The Chelsea game was hard for him because he missed some chances, but it was nice to play well with him.

“The system was good, we worked on it all week. It was different, but good.”

Arsenal have the chance to make it three wins in a row when they travel north to take on Newcastle United after the international break.
