Gareth Southgate makes nine changes for England side to face Switzerland

Gareth Southgate has made nine changes to his England side for tonight’s friendly against Switzerland.

The Three Lions fell to a 2-1 defeat against Spain at Wembley in the Uefa Nations League on Saturday night and the 48-year-old England boss has reshuffled his pack for tonight’s game at Leicester’s King Power Stadium.

After being on the substitutes bench against Spain, Jack Butland, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, James Tarkowski, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Eric Dier, Danny Welbeck and Fabian Delph have all come into the side for tonight’s friendly.

Meanwhile, Jordan Pickford, Kieran Trippier, John Stones, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson, Jesse Lingard and Harry Kane have all dropped out of the starting lineup, with Luke Shaw withdrawing from the squad completely after his head injury against Spain.

Ben Chilwell and Demari Gray are both among the substitutes for tonight’s game which is the 25th time England have faced the Swiss, winning 16 and drawing five to date.

England are also unbeaten against Switzerland in their last 10 meetings, with their last defeat coming in 1981.
