International football fans will be treated to another heavyweight clash in the Uefa Nations League as the Netherlands take on Germany.
Both sides return to action in the Nations League having both already taken on current world champions France, with the Netherlands losing and Germany drawing.

While Germany endured pain at the World Cup in Russia, the Netherlands had the summer off having failed to qualify for the quadrennial competition. As a result, 2014 World Cup winners Germany are currently ranked 12th in the FIFA world rankings, while the Netherlands are five lower in 17th.

The Netherlands are in somewhat of a transitional period, following the international retirements of two long-term stars Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder, and having missed out on the World Cup and Euro 2016, starting life anew under Ronald Koeman.
And Germany are in a weird spell of their own following a disastrous World Cup, but have kept a large part of their squad from Russia, with the group as a whole trying to figure out the problems.
However, after one game each in the Nations League, Germany are in a slightly better position having earned a point against France, while the Netherlands fell in a narrow defeat.
After the meeting between the two sides on Saturday, the Netherlands face Belgium in a friendly while Germany will have another go at the defending world champions France in the Nations League.

Where are the Netherlands in their transition?
Fans of the Oranje hoping for an immediate turnaround under Ronald Koeman will have to be slightly more patient with the Netherlands still some way off from their total football highs.
Given his squad selections, it appears Koeman is still trying to work out his best 25 players having given four men their first international call-ups this time around. Although those that have been included fall into the category of ‘exciting prospect’ in the main which is promising for the future.
What is going on with Germany?
The World Cup was undeniably a disaster for Germany, with the then-defending world champions bowing out at the group stages. And it appears, with Joachim Low still in charge, Die Mannschaft have not quite worked out what is wrong.
Against France and Peru, Germany showed signs of the weaknesses exposed in Russia but also glimpses of what once saw them crowned world champions. It is up to Low to find the balance, replacing the stars who are beginning to fall with younger talent hungry to impress.
Why is Justin Kluivert not in the Netherlands squad?
The latest young Dutch star, Justin Kluivert is not in Ronald Koeman’s latest squad following his summer move to Roma. After impressing at Ajax, the 19-year-old has made just five appearances for his new club, starting twice. Though he may be promising and have a strong name, Koeman appears to be showing he will pick players on merit rather than reputation.
21-year-old Steven Bergwijn is arguably the player to replace Kluivert as the explosive PSV winger has started the season in great form on the opposite flank to Mexican flyer Hirving Lozano.

Due to missing out on the World Cup this summer, the Netherlands have played just six games this year, winning only two – drawing two and losing twice. Meanwhile, Germany have managed just one more win than the Netherlands in their nine games in 2018, losing four and drawing the other two.

Team news
Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman has four new faces in his squad for the current international break with Denzel Dumfries, Pablo Rosario, Steven Bergwijn and Arnaut Danjuma all uncapped.
But the Netherlands are without Roma teenager Justin Kluivert who was not called up, having been slightly frustrated with his playing time follow the move to the Italian capital.
Germany will be without Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger who pulled out of the squad with a groin injury, with Ilkay Gundogan, Marco Reus and teenager sensation Kai Havertz also having to drop out.
However, Joachim Low will be able to call upon Leroy Sane once more after leaving the Manchester City winger out of his World Cup squad.

Despite playing as a winger in recent matches for Germany, the absence of Marco Reus to lead the line will likely see Timo Werner starting up front against the Netherlands.
Werner was frustrated at the World Cup, failing to score as Germany bowed out at the group stages but has been in some form for his club side this season.

Germany are favourite to win the match against the Netherlands with the latter still going through a big transition, but it will not be easy for Die Mannschaft.
Joachim Low’s side have had their weaknesses exploited of late, conceding 10 goals in their nine matches since the start of the year.
