Everton manager Marco Silva has hailed forward Richarlison as the perfect player for the Premier League.
Silva initially brought Richarlison to England last season, signing him from Fluminense while manager of Watford, though their time together was brief with Silva getting sacked due to a downturn in results.
Upon taking over as Everton manager, Richarlison was one of Silva’s summer signings, joining for £40m, and has hit the ground running at his new club.
And Silva believes Richarlison’s playing style will allow him to succeed where some Brazilians have failed in the Premier League.
“My feeling since the first moment I saw him in Brazil is that he is a player with a very good profile to play here in the Premier League,” he told Sky Sports.
“Of course some of the Brazilian players sometimes have some problems and some difficulties to adapt quickly here, but Richarlison has a different profile as a player.
“He is strong and he is not scared about challenges.”
Richarlison has scored four goals in six Premier League games for Everton this season and will be looking to add to that tally when Everton face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Richarlison’s “perfect” Premier League fit
Since arriving in England last summer, Richarlison has played 44 games in the Premier League, scoring nine for Watford and Everton.
All nine of the Brazilian’s goals have come while managed by Marco Silva, with Richarlison failing to score past the Spaniard’s sacking by Watford in January 2018.
But despite the goals drying up for Richarlison, the forward still proved to be too much to handle for some Premier League defenders. In fact, since making his debut in the competition, he has won more fouls than any other player, forcing the referee to blow his whistle 109 times.
The Brazilian has also attempted 132 dribbles (55 completed), contested 328 aerial duels (136 won) and made 73 tackles, all of which help portray Silva’s image of a player equipped with the physicality to survive England’s top flight and certainly not scared to contest duels in the air or on the ground.
