Romelu Lukaku has told Thierry Henry he’s aiming to surpass his Premier League tally after recently moving ahead of idol Didier Drogba in the all-time standings.
The 25-year-old Belgian marksman’s latest effort, which came away to Watford in September, saw him move onto 105 goals in English football’s top division which is a goal more than Drogba managed.
Both remain in touch and the Ivorian legend congratulated his ex-Chelsea teammate, whose attention is now squarely on Arsenal legend and former Belgium national team assistant coach Henry.
“When that happened he sent me four cups [for his four Premier League titles] on Snapchat! We speak every day and it’s really nice because he’s been part of the process,” he told the club’s official website regarding Drogba’s reaction after going past him.
“Now I’m talking to Thierry Henry saying ‘I’m coming for you’ on 175! I’m laughing saying it to him but, deep down, inside he knows I’m dead serious! “

Since completing a £75m move to United from Everton in July 2017, subsequently reuniting with his former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, Lukaku has assimilated well into his new surroundings.
He began life at Old Trafford well, registering five goals across his opening five matches for the Red Devils, including one in the Uefa Super Cup final against Real Madrid.
To date, he has featured 62 times in all competitions under Mourinho, bagging 31 goals – with 20 of those coming in the Premier League – and creating a further nine for his teammates.
He is next expected to be in action for United during Saturday’s trip to high-flying Chelsea.
