Sergio Ramos hits out at Raheem Sterling ‘stamp’ claims with new piece of video evidence

Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos has replied to claims he stamped on Manchester City star Raheem Sterling during the Uefa Nations League match between Spain and England on Monday.

England came out on top in Seville, beating La Roja 3-2, inflicting the nation’s first home competitive defeat since 2003.

But one negative moment which stemmed from the match was claims from fans watching that Ramos had stamped on Sterling inside the Spain penalty area, with the Manchester City forward already on the floor.

However, now, Ramos has given his side of the story with a video posted on his official Twitter account showing the incident in a new angle.

“Nothing else to say,” accompanied the video, which shows Ramos’ foot going near Sterling without actually touching the Englishman – who was already down after a tackle from Jonny inside the area.

At the time, the supposed incident sent fans watching crazy given the reputation Ramos has given himself of being a player to push the boundaries at time, going all out to win.

It brought comparisons from some of the 2018 Champions League final in which Ramos’ challenge on Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah resulted in the Egyptian having to be taken off injured inside the first half, sucking the momentum out of the Reds.

Madrid won the Champions League with a 3-1 victory and Salah would go on to have an uninspiring World Cup with Egypt, making just two appearances.
