Usain Bolt ‘set to be included in FIFA 19’ – despite turning down a European club

Usain Bolt may be included in the FIFA 19 winter update even if he hasn’t found a club by then, EA Sports has revealed.

The eight-time Olympic Gold medalist is currently on trial with Australian side Central Coast Mariners, for whom he recently scored twice in a friendly against MacArthur South West United.

It is yet to be decided whether he will sign a permanent contract with the Mariners, but if he does Bolt will definitely be included in the FIFA 19 winter update.

And EA Sports has revealed the former sprinter could feature in the game as a free agent if he isn’t picked up by a club.

“If Usain is picked up by the Central Coast Mariners then he will automatically be included in the Winter update or the next major update, but if he isn’t listed then he might be included as a free agent,” the video game company told Fox Sports.

EA Sports also confirmed Bolt’s key attribute will be recognised, adding: “Yes, he will also be the fastest player in the game.”

Usain Bolt rejects contract offer from Maltese champions

Bolt has turned down a move to Maltese champions Valletta FC according to his agent, Ricky Simms.

The 32-year-old was offered a two-year contract by Valletta but has no intention of playing in Malta as his trial with Central Coast Mariners continues.

“Usain does not wish to pursue this Malta opportunity,” Simms said (via BBC Sport).

“There is a lot of interest in Usain playing football. We regularly receive similar approaches.”

Valletta chief executive Ghasston Slimen added: “We wish Usain Bolt all the best with his football career. The Valletta FC offer is always on the table.”

The Maltese top-flight is not featured on FIFA 19, so it’s likely Bolt would not have been included in the game’s winter update had he moved to Malta.
