AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone has lifted the lid on the Rossoneri’s pursuit of Hamburg midfielder Alen Halilovic as he insists the club are waiting for the right time to announce the signing.
Halilovic, 22, has reportedly been on the cusp of completing a move to the San Siro in recent days, and that speculation has only intensified after Fassone revealed an agreement has now been reached between the two clubs that spans further than just a handshake.
The Croatian starlet has resurrected his career after falling down the pecking order at the Volksparkstadion; an 18-month loan spell with Las Palmas in La Liga has since witnessed the midfielder rediscover the form that originally secured him a move to Barcelona in 2014.
Answering questions from fans on the club’s official Facebook page, Fassone lauded the exploits of Halilovic while further suggesting the club have already secured his signature.
He said:”Halilovic? He’s a great talent and the right time to announce him will come. There’s more than a handshake between the parties.”
Halilovic demonstrated in spells last season why he is highly-coveted across the continent, though his exploits were not enough to keep Las Palmas in the division.
Meanwhile, his parent club Hamburger also suffered relegation from the Bundesliga last season, and so the club are reportedly keen to relieve pressure on their wage bill.
The San Siro club were recently banned from competing in the Europa League by UEFA for breaching Financial Fair Play rules, but Halilovic will reportedly join the club on a three-year contract for a nominal fee, given Hamburger’s relegation.
