Arsene Wenger has looked back on his 22 years in charge of Arsenal.
The 68-year-old French tactician, who is the Gunners most decorated manager, recently stepped down at the Emirates Stadium.
He’s since been succeeded by former Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla boss Unai Emery who officially debuts in the dugout against Premier League champions Manchester City on August 12.
Despite the last few years being characterised by a growing resentment towards Wenger by a section of supporters, his absence will be felt, that being said the results and performances haven’t always been disappointing.
For a period under his leadership, Arsenal were a force to be reckoned with, regularly challenging Manchester United for top honours in England.
Wenger, in a conversation with Christine Kelly on the RTL show ‘What If’ (via football.london) named Nicolas Anelka among his most proud signing which also included Kolo Toure, Thierry Henry (the most talented player he’s coached) and Sol Campbell.
However, none of them were around for the match which made him most happiest, that was in February 2016 against Barcelona at home. “They were at their highest highest peak,” he said. “They were unbeatable. The football from both sides was exceptional.”
