Gonzalo Higuain’s brother explains how Cristiano Ronaldo is set to thwart Chelsea transfer plans

The brother of Gonzalo Higuain has denied reports the striker is in talks with Chelsea after expressing excitement towards Cristiano Ronaldo‘s potential move to Juventus

Ronaldo is reportedly on the cusp of parting company with Real Madrid in a sensational move that could take him to the Serie A champions, ending his nine-year spell in the Spanish capital and rekindling his once devastating link-up with Higuain.

Ronaldo and Higuain enjoyed four years playing side-by-side at the Bernabeu, forming one of Europe’s most formidable attacking fronts, and the possibility of renewing that once lethal link is a mouth-watering prospect according to the Argentine’s brother.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for the former Napoli forward, and a deal was reportedly set to be ratified upon the appointment of Maurizio Sarri, which would see the 30-year-old rejoin his former manager.

However, rumours of a move to west London have since been quashed by Nicolas Higuain – brother and agent of Gonzalo – after he told Sky Italy: “We are not in talks with Chelsea.

“He wants to respect his contract with Juventus, would be great to see Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo playing together again.”

Higuain enjoyed his most prolific goalscoring season under the tutelage of Sarri during the duo’s association in Naples, as his 36 league goals helped the Partenopei finish runners-up in Serie A during the 2015/16 campaign.

The Argentine would ultimately transfer to Turin the following season for £80m and he has since enjoyed two years with the Old Lady, scoring 55 goals in 105 appearances across all competitions.
