Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Gigi Buffon filmed arriving for PSG medical

Former Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has been filmed arriving in France for a medical ahead of a proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Buffon, 40, left Serie A champions Juventus after 17 years at the end of last season but his future was in doubt amid reports of retirement and interesting proposals from elsewhere.

His links to PSG took a big turn when Buffon’s agent revealed both parties would be happy were he to move to the Ligue 1 champions.

And now, the Italian has been videoed in France for his medical at PSG.

Set to be unveiled on Monday July 9, Buffon is set to sign a one-year deal at PSG with the option to extend for a further year (according to Goal).

Despite turning 40 last January, Buffon will challenge for the role of first-choice goalkeeper at PSG, going up against Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp – who, last month, welcomed the idea of the Italian joining the club.

“If you had the chance to work with such a goalie, that would be something special,” he said.

“Whether it happens, I don’t know, but it would be interesting to train alongside such a goalkeeper.”

Gianluigi Buffon’s Juventus career

Having joined Juventus in 2001 from Parma, Buffon spent 17 years in Turin and experienced highs and lows with the Bianconeri.

Buffon won no fewer than 19 first-team trophies while at Juventus, including nine Scuddeti, four Coppa Italias and five Italian Super Cups.

The goalkeeper also remained at the club following Juventus’ demotion to Serie B, where another title came.

But now Buffon will be looking to France to add to his trophy collection as PSG will focus on once again retaining the Ligue 1 title and giving the Italian one final chance at winning the elusive Champions League.
