Cristiano Ronaldo Jr hoping to be better than Champions League history-making dad

Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his son, Cristiano Junior, believes he will be a better footballer than his dad – but the Juventus forward isn’t quite so sure.

Ronaldo joined Juventus this summer after a trophy-laden spell with Real Madrid which saw him lift four Champions League titles in five years.

The Portuguese sensation bagged his first two Juventus goals against Sassuolo on Sunday, with his eight-year-old son now joining the youth team in Turin.

And Cristiano Junior is now harbouring ambitions of out-shining his father, who some believe to be the greatest player of all time.

Ronaldo told BeIn Sports (via the Mirror): “I hope that Cris, my son, can be like his dad. He says he is going to be better (than me), but I think it’s difficult.

“I am very happy to have scored, for him too. He is playing for Juventus and adapting really well, it has been easier for him than for me.”

Ronaldo’s Juventus side take on Valencia in their Champions League opener on Wednesday night.

G.O.A.T? Cristiano Ronaldo’s incredible Champions League record

If Cristiano Junior is to match his father’s footballing exploits, he may need to break into the Juventus first team now, at the tender age of eight-years-old, to get a head start.

Ronaldo’s 120 Champions League goals is a competition record, while his 97 matches won and five winner’s medals in the tournament are also unmatched (in its current format).

In the 2013/14 campaign, the Real Madrid record goalscorer bagged 17 Champions League goals, more than any other player has scored in a single season in the competition.

Ronaldo has also finished as the Champions League top scorer in more seasons (seven) than any other player, while has also scored in more finals (three) than anyone else.

Over to you, son…
