Kaka has urged onlookers not to compare reported AC Milan target Lucas Paqueta to the club’s legends but thinks the young Brazilian will have a “bright future” if he joins the Rossoneri.
Paqueta has been heavily linked with a January move from Brazilian side Flamengo to Milan, although reports suggest Barcelona could yet make a move for the midfielder.
The 21-year-old, who has also been compared to Kevin De Bruyne and Luka Modric, has emerged as one of the most promising talents in Brazil after scoring nine goals in 25 top-flight appearances from midfield for Flamengo in 2018.
But Kaka, who made 270 appearances and won five major honours during his first spell with Milan, thinks comparing Paqueta to himself or any other Rossoneri legend doesn’t do the youngster any favours.
“He’s a player who has a bright future ahead of him,” Kaka told Milan TV (via Football Italia).
“He’s already been called-up to the Brazilian national team, but it’s better for him that we don’t make comparisons.
“I’ve seen so many of them in recent days, with me, with [Alexandre] Pato, with Ronaldinho, Cafu, Rivaldo… with all the Brazilians who have been part of Milan’s history.
“We need to avoid these comparisons so he can come here and play calmly and peacefully. I’m confident.”
Kaka the director?
After four years at Real Madrid, Kaka made a brief return to the San Siro, playing 37 times across all competitions for Milan in 2013/14.
Now he is being linked with a directorial role at his former club, but the 36-year-0ld has revealed he isn’t currently close to agreeing a position.
He said: “I spoke with Leo[nardo] and Paolo [Maldini]. Right now I’m closest to Milan but that’s all it is, my priority is still to be close to my family, Luca and Isabella, who are 10 and seven years old.
“I’ve spoken a lot with Leo, to try and understand how to become a director, and I’m doing a sports management course in Brazil.
“I hope one day I can work at Milan as a sporting director, but there’s nothing definitive at the moment.”
