Karim Benzema has told French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet to leave him alone, following comments he made regarding the striker’s international future.
Le Graet, in a conversation with Ouest-France, stated the Real Madrid marksman – who hasn’t played for Les Bleus since 2015 – cannot expect to be called up for national team duty again.
His declaration, though, didn’t go down well and was rebuked by Benzema on social media, with the Lyon-born striker feeling his focus should be on the here and now.
“Mr. Le Graet, I ask you to forget about me and leave me alone. France are the world champions and that’s the important thing, the rest is pointless, thank you,” he wrote on Twitter.

Benzema in Madrid
Since leaving boyhood-club Olympique Lyonnais, having registered 66 goals across 148 matches, and signing for Real in 2009 for a reported £35m he’s not looked back.
Despite being frequently criticised for his relatively low goals-per-game ratio, Benzema has been near ever-present since rocking up at the Bernabeu, featuring across 423 games for Los Blancos and registering 197 goals in the process.
His contributions have enabled Madrid to win four European Cups, as well as two La Liga titles, during a period in which Barcelona have dominated Spanish football.
With the France national team, prior to his exclusion following off-field issues, he’d accumulated 81 caps and 27 goals.
