Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric believes Harry Kane has already established himself among the best strikers in world football.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a prolific start of his career since breaking into Tottenham Hotspur’s first team and subsequently making his England debut.
He’s starting to get going again this season, having bagged six goals across 10 matches in all competitions, and in Modric’s mind there’s not much Kane needs to improve as he can be considered one of the best around.
“If you look at the number of goals he is scoring for Tottenham Hotspur, taking them into the Premier League title race which isn’t easy because other clubs are investing more money, then he’s proved himself one of the world’s best forwards already,” he told reporters (via Daily Mirror).
“If he continues to develop, he can achieve even more, but he’s already one of the best in the world.”
In numbers: Harry Kane’s Spurs career so far
Kane, a graduate of Spurs’ academy, is one of four players in Premier League history – after Alan Shearer, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Thierry Henry – to notch 20 goals in three consecutive Premier League campaigns.
To date he’s bagged 113 goals across 161 league outings with his efforts winning him two Golden Boots in 2015/16 and 2016/17.
And the aforementioned Shearer is the only player in league history to net a century of goals faster than him. It took the Newcastle United legend 124 matches while Kane achieved the feat in 17 more games.
Additionally, Shearer holds the record for most hat-tricks scored in the Premier League with 11. Kane currently has already scored eight hat-tricks at just 25 years of age.
Now on 146 goals for Spurs, Kane sits fifth in the club’s all-time top 10 scorers, which is headed by the legendary Jimmy Greaves (with 266 goals).
