Barcelona are still keen to sign Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly according to the defender’s ex-agent.
The Senegalese centre-back penned a new five-year deal with Napoli in September following much speculation about the player’s future.
But that has not stopped Barca’s interest according to Bruno Satin, who until recently had represented the big defender.
Koulibaly was a key player in Maurizio Sarri’s side that finished runners-up to Juventus in Serie A last season and had been linked with a move to Spain but he has signed a new contract that would see him remain at the San Paolo until 2023.
A colossal display during Napoli’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday evening highlighted exactly why he was being linked with a move to the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona, the latter of which is still reportedly interested in signing him.
“Are Barcelona interested in Koulibaly? Everyone saw how good he was on Wednesday,” Satin told Radio CRC.
“Kalidou can play for any team in the world, be it Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. He recently renewed his contract, but we’re seeing that Pique isn’t going through a good spell at Barcelona.
“Does Braida like Koulibaly? Yes, for sure. We talked about him on Wednesday at the San Paolo. After that, there are other factors that need to be addressed.
“How much is Kalidou worth? He’s very strong and quick. He’s learned so much from all the coaches he’s worked with, from those in Belgium to Benitez and Sarri.
“It must be remembered that since they signed him from Genk for €8m, they’ve turned down important offers.
“Why did Koulibaly leave me? Unfortunately, it may seem strange but it wasn’t his decision. He had pressure from his family.
“Am I still Kalidou’s friend? Yes, he invited me to eat after the game on Wednesday.”
Napoli have made a solid start to the season under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, winning five of their opening seven games.
They currently sit second in the table and face surprise package Sassuolo this Sunday.
