Juventus boss Max Allegri “in love with Hamsik,” says Napoli owner

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is in love with Napoli ace Marek Hamsik according to the Naples club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Hamsik, 30, has formed a reputation as one of Serie A’s most outstanding attacking midfielders during his 11-year spell at the Stadio San Paolo, sparking widespread adulation from the football world.

One such admirer is the current boss of perennial Serie A champions Allegri, who has tried to sign the Slovak on a number of occasions during both his time in Turin and his stint in charge of Milan.

De Laurentiis insists his club have fended off interest from Allegri for their talisman, while further quashing rumours that Hamsik was ready to depart for China this summer.

“In the past there were offers from Milan, when Allegri was the coach, and Juve, when Allegri was the coach,” he told reporters (via Football Italia).

“He’s in love with Hamsik. I never believed in his transfer to China, I have [film] units there and I know how the Chinese think.

“Many things are said, but it’s a long time before anything happens.”

Napoli are preparing for life post-Maurizio Sarri with new coach Carlo Ancelotti taking the reigns in Naples at the end of the season, ending his nine-year absence from Italian football.

The Italian tactician will also be delighted Hamsik has committed to the club, as the former Brescia midfielder has been an ever-present in the middle of the park for the Partenopei, amassing over 500 appearances in all competitions as well as 120 goals.
