PSG respond after Financial Fair Play investigation reopened by CFCB

Paris Saint-Germain have responded after the CFCB Adjudicatory Chamber reopened its investigation into the club over a possible breach of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

On June 13th, the CFCB closed its initial investigation and ordered PSG to sell €60m (£52.9m) worth of players by the end of June to comply with FFP rules, according to the BBC.

Since then, PSG sold Javier Pastore to AS Roma for a reported fee of £21.8m on June 26th, before their end-of-June deadline.

The Ligue 1 champions then sold defender Yuri Berchiche to Athletic Bilbao for a fee in the region in £17.7m, a deal that went through on July 2nd.

Now, according to the Associated Press, a review of the decision to close the investigation into PSG’s possible rules breach has taken place.

PSG have responded with an official statement that reads: “The club has been informed of the Adjudicatory Chamber of the CFCB’s request to review the decision taken by its chamber of investigation on June 13th 2018 to close the investigation.

“The club outlines that it has successfully carried out an important number of transfers in recent days in compliance with the CFBC’s decision and that it will continue, as it has done since September 1st 2017, to provide all information requested by the CFCB and UEFA.”

Concerns were raised over PSG’s finances when the club signed Neymar from Barcelona for a world-record fee of £197m last summer.

Kylian Mbappe later joined on loan with PSG agreeing a £166m fee to sign the teenager permanently from Monaco.

PSG are yet make a signing in the current transfer window.
