Arsenal get their Europa League campaign underway on Thursday evening as they welcome Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava to the Emirates.

Unai Emery has enjoyed a lot of successes in this competition with Sevilla and will be hoping to lead Arsenal to European glory at the end of the season.

The Gunners have won three of their opening five games so far this season and take on a Vorskla team to have won four and lost four in the Ukrainian Premier League.

Arsenal are heavy favourites to win the match, going for 1/16 understandably giving the gulf between the two sides, so the big question of the result will be by how much the Gunners are going to come out on top.

In Arsenal’s 10 fixtures against Ukrainian sides in European competitions, the Gunners have scored 15 goals – 11 of which have come in home matches.

Though this averages out to 2.2 goals per game, Arsenal were going up against Ukraine’s biggest clubs in Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv, not a Vorskla side to have conceded in six of their eight league games this season – including four against the aforementioned Shakhtar.

Arsenal vs Vorskla Tip 2: Arsenal to win to nil @ 4/9

Arsenal have not exactly shown signs of strength defensively this season, yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League.

But in Vorskla, the Gunners have opponents who have not been great at finding the net, scoring seven in their eight league games, which has included failing to score on three occasions.

With Bernd Leno likely to start in goal, the German goalkeeper may fancy himself to keep a clean sheet on Thursday having kept 12 in 38 across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen last season.

Arsenal vs Vorskla Tip 3: Danny Welbeck to score first @ 16/5

Given their position as heavy favourites, Arsenal have a luxury of being able to field a largely-rotated team against Vorskla without damaging their chances of winning.

As a result, some of the Gunners’ fringe players such as Danny Welbeck will be expecting a start at the Emirates, hoping to make the most of the opportunity to impress.

And that is what Welbeck is likely to do, having scored three goals in the Europa League knockout stages last season, including a brace against AC Milan.

The Englishman also has one goal in three Premier League appearances this season, despite being restricted to just 31 minutes across substitute appearances.
