Paris Saint-Germain full-back Dani Alves believes Real Madrid could be even more dangerous without Cristiano Ronaldo.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner traded Madrid for Turin this summer and the now-Juventus star is aiming to win a fifth Champions League title in six years after a trophy-laden spell with Los Blancos.
However, despite not replacing their talisman, Alves believes Real Madrid will become a much stronger team unit and that they should not be underestimated.
“I think that, contrary to what everybody else says, Madrid are more of a team without Cristiano, and now it’s a little more difficult than it was before – at least because of how I see football and my concept of this game,” he explained to Marca (via Goal).
“Though it’s obvious that him leaving is a brutal loss, Madrid are Madrid.”
Alves spent eight years at Barcelona between 2008 and 2016, winning six La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns in the process.
However, after leaving for Juventus for 2016/17 season, the 35-year-old Brazilian now finds himself at PSG and fully appreciates his former-El Classico rival’s desire for a new challenge.
“People want challenges, to continue feeling alive and for that reason, it doesn’t surprise me,” he explained.
“He had been there for a while, he had done great things with Real Madrid and he has decided to try other things.
“I did when I was at Barcelona and the true fighters need new challenges and don’t need comfort.
“I think that, like me at Barcelona, he was very comfortable and, maybe, we need something different to stimulate us again.”

Alves’ PSG side didn’t get their Champions League campaign off to the best of starts, losing 3-2 to Liverpool on Tuesday night, though the Brazilian missed the trip due to a cruciate ligament injury.
A Ronaldo-less Real Madrid kick off their defence of the Champions League on Wednesday when they take on Roma.
