How Arturo Vidal has already got himself into trouble at Barcelona

Barcelona general manager Pep Segura has criticised Arturo Vidal‘s recent social media posts, suggesting the Chilean “lacks respect for his teammates” and the club as as whole.

Vidal joined Barcelona over the summer from Bayern Munich, where he made 123 appearances across all competitions in Germany.

But the midfielder has been used mostly from the bench since arriving at the Catalan club, which has provoked a sense of frustration that comes through in some of Vidal’s Instagram posts.

After only playing a few minutes of Barcelona’s victory over Tottenham in the Champions League last week, the 31-year-old posted an angry face emoji on his Instagram story.

That was followed by a since deleted post that, according to ESPN, read: “Don’t fight with those who are like Judas, they will hang themselves.”

And Segura has urged Vidal to think about the people his posts are affecting.

“Arturo Vidal’s messages have a double meaning,” Segura told Mundo Deportivo (translated by ESPN).

“You can look at them positively because they demonstrate that he’s a guy who wants to get integrated quickly and help the team. He feels frustrated personally that he’s not playing more minutes.

“The negative is we feel he has to work hard and be aware that he’s part of a great team, with great players. He has to have respect for his teammates, for the dressing room, the coach and the club.

“We understand that he’s aware that those tweets did more damage to himself than anyone else. I think he will make up for it.”

Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona?

Vidal has enjoyed success at every club he has played for, and he will be hoping to win a domestic title in a fourth country with Barcelona.

After leaving Chilean side Colo-Colo, Vidal won four Serie A titles with Juventus and three Bundesliga titles with Bayern.

If Barcelona win La Liga this season, Vidal will have won a league title in each of the last eight years.

The current La Liga champions take on Sevilla at the Nou Camp after the international break.
