Aleix Vidal given permission to leave the club following Arturo Vidal signing

Barcelona have confirmed Aleix Vidal has been allowed to leave the club’s training camp to finalise his future.

The winger, who can also perform as a full-back, has not had the best time at Barcelona playing just 51 games across three years.

With the attacking signing of Malcolm this summer, alongside the presence of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, Vidal’s chances of playing were severely cut.

And now the club have revealed Vidal has returned to Barcelona from their pre-season tour in order to finalise his future.

“Aleix Vidal is travelling to Barcelona today with permission from the club to settle his future,” a tweet from the club’s official account read.

According to reports in Spanish publication Sport, Vidal is set to return to Sevilla in a move for €9m, having spent one season with the Andalusian club during the 2014/15 season.

Vidal had been involved in Barcelona’s pre-season matches in the United States due to the late return of their World Cup stars, but his future had always been in doubt due to the progressive transfers.

The news comes after another Vidal joined Barcelona with Arturo Vidal switching Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga for La Liga.

Aleix Vidal’s Barcelona career

Vidal signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2015 but could not make his debut for the club until January 2016 due to their ban of registering new players.

But that would appear to be an omen for his Barcelona career as he was often restricted to starts at right-back when the club’s first choice was unavailable.

In total, the Spaniard made 51 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and recording 11 assists.
