Patrice Evra: Why I took a s**t in Gerard Pique’s boots

Former Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra has opened up on some of the incredible antics that used to go on between himself and defender Gerard Pique in the Old Trafford dressing room.

The pair were teammates between 2006 and 2008 while Pique was still a youngster making his way in the game, but that didn’t stop him taking on Evra in some changing room banter.

Pique once told of how he had pranked Evra, following the Frenchman getting a long-awaited pair of personalised boots from Nike.

“One day Patrice turned up with some boots that he had been asking Nike to make for him for months,” he said (via AS). “He had the names of his kids written on them and a few other details. I went to the showers, made a little bonfire and burned them.”

However, with Evra being a notorious practical joker himself, Pique had definitely picked on the wrong man.

The French international didn’t take too kindly to the Spaniard’s antics and decided to take matters into his own hands with a prank in return, swiftly putting the youngster in his place.

Speaking on Sky’s ‘A League of Their Own’, Evra said: “They burned my trainers. It wasn’t funny and actually, it was Gerard Piqué. So what I did to him, I take his shoes and I go in the toilet and I s**t inside of them.”

Unsurprisingly, Pique, now playing for Barcelona, has never mentioned this part of the story himself but would definitely have thought twice before crossing Evra again.

Evra, who played 379 for Manchester United across all competitions, is currently unattached having left Premier League side West Ham United at the end of last season.
