It’s a dream – Malcom on first Barcelona goal and playing with Lionel Messi

Barcelona newcomer Malcom has described his first goal at the Nou Camp as a dream come true, while further lauding Lionel Messi as the greatest player in the world.

Malcom, 21, completed a move to the Catalan club this summer after transferring from former club Bordeaux, where he scored 23 goals in 96 appearances across all competitions.

A graduate of Corinthians’ esteemed academy, the Brazil U23 international featured in Barca’s 3-0 victory over Argentine outfit Boca Juniors on Wednesday as the club clinched the Joan Gamper Trophy.

The Brazilian winger joined Ernesto Valverde’s men for £36.5m in July, and he broke the deadlock against Boca after scoring an 18th-minute low drive finish, before Messi and Rafinha completed the scoring.

Speaking after the match, Malcom expressed his delight in netting his first goal at his new home, while also waxing lyrical about his new teammate Lionel Messi.

When asked about the feeling of lining up alongside the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, he told reporters (via globoesporte): “I have no words to define Messi. He’s the best in the world and starting in a match at his side is something that makes me very happy.

“I am very happy to be with the Spanish league champions and to see this stadium with so many fans.

“It was my first game at the Camp Nou, I had my family present and I scored a goal. It’s a dream.”

Malcom was involved in over 35 per cent of all Bordeaux’s Ligue 1 goals last term, scoring 12 while also registering seven assists.

The Brazilian could make his La Liga debut this weekend when Barcelona lock horns with Alaves on Saturday at the Nou Camp.
