Joel Campbell finally leaves Arsenal on a permanent deal

Joel Campbell has completed a permanent move from Arsenal to Italian Serie A side Frosinone.

The Costa Rican winger had spent seven years at the Emirates but only managed 40 first-team appearances during that time.

Campell had six loan spells during his Arsenal career as he found chances on north London limited – this eventual permanent move represents a good opportunity for the 26-year-old to get his career back on track.

A statement from Arsenal’s official website wished Campbell well in his move, saying: “Joel Campbell has joined Serie A side Frosinone Calcio on a permanent transfer.

“The versatile forward joined us from Deportivo Saprissa in August 2011 and made 40 first-team appearances.

“Joel also spent time on loan at Lorient, Olympiacos, Villarreal, Sporting Lisbon and had two spells with Spanish side Real Betis, where he spent the duration of the 2017/18 season.

“The 26-year-old is a Costa Rica international with 79 caps and 15 goals for his country. He was part of their squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where he made two appearances.

We would like to thank Joel for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future.”

Campbell’s new side travel to Atalanta for their Serie A opener on Monday.
