The Championship has a higher average attendance than La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1.
With all those watchful eyes, the first thing clubs will want to do is make sure their image is on point.
And with the start of the Championship season already getting off to typical, frantic start, Squawka takes a look at the five best and five worst home kits in this season’s competition:
Best
5. Brentford

This Brentford kit is just really, really nice to look at.
The white sleeves and red trim, along with the black shorts, all work perfectly together to make a strip that is very easy on the eye.
4. Millwall
Take a look at #Millwall's 2018/19 home kit…

Taking inspiration from the first kit worn at the New Den 25-years-ago, Millwall have themselves a very smart kit.
The white collar and royal blue design work very well together, this will be a very popular effort in South London.
Definitely one of Macron’s better efforts this season.
3. Birmingham City
Looking for a holiday essential?
Pre-order your 2018/19 @adidasUK home kit today.
The kit will be available to buy in the Blues Store from Friday 6 July.

Improvements need to be made on the pitch for Birmingham City this season – but at least their kit is a guaranteed hit.
The mix of blue and white across the top works really well and is sure to draw a lot of plaudits from Birmingham fans.
2. Aston Villa
For the fans, by a fan. Our brand new kits for 2018/19 courtesy of @LukeRoper.

Villa’s pre-season fears over financial fair play and losing star names on the cheap have been quietened slightly with the club’s recent takeover and them fending off interest for Jack Grealish.
And with this new, retro style home kit, fan mood will have improved even further.
Designed by fashion designer and Aston Villa fan, Luke Roper, the v-neck collar and plain designs are simple yet very effective in creating a very tidy home kit.
1. Derby County

Umbro bringing back their double diamond logo on the sleeves is a throwback to their late 90’s kits – and it is absolutely glorious.
It is the finishing touch to what is a very simple yet stylish design for the Rams this year.
Derby fans have responded very well indeed to this kit – they will hope the players can do it justice in Frank Lampard’s first foray into management.
Worst
5. Leeds United

Honestly, Kappa, is that the most creative piece of clothing you can supply to some of the most vociferous support in English football?
This kit looks as if Kappa had ten minutes left after designing their other kits, so they just put the absolute bare minimum on there.
It has the badge, it has their logo, it has their sponsor, and literally nothing else.
4. Sheffield Wednesday
SO… What do you all think?? #swfc

There is absolutely no chance in this or any other universe that a blue and white striped kit, with gold features, can look bad.
Unless it is made by Elev8, that is.
Finishing the stripes so early before the shoulder makes this kit seem totally out of shape as if the kit man had put the entire squad’s matchday clobber in the wash at 100 degrees.
The only saving grace is that Sheffield Wednesday don’t often have bad kits and will probably come back with an absolute gem next season.
3. Bolton Wanderers
Bolton Wanderers are proud to reveal our @MacronSports manufactured home kit for the upcoming 2018/19 @SkyBetChamp season.

This kit should be ticking all of the expected of a Bolton kit.
White shirt, dark blue shorts and black and red trims.
However, you just can’t divert your eyes from that hideous collar.
It begs the question of why so many kit designers try to reinvent a simple collar, only to destroy a home shirt on the process?
2. Ipswich Town

— Ipswich Town FC (@Official_ITFC) June 12, 2018
This one is very much a step away from the traditional Ipswich Town kits – traditional kits that have usually been very easy on the eye.
And you know what they said about things that aren’t broken…
Well, Ipswich tried to fix it and made a real mess – the white sleeves and red trims just don’t sell this kit well at all.
1.Wigan Athletic
🤔 Want the gaffer’s thoughts on @cm_macca’s return and how the trio of James Perch, Ross Wallace and Darron Gibson trained this week?
Our brand new podcast Latics Listen has just that https://t.co/JWDGOpE2Wg#wafc ⚪️ pic.twitter.com/ZQPEHosjK0

There is literally nothing good about this year’s Wigan Athletic home strip.
The pattern doesn’t sit well – the old striped Wigan kits were the best ones – and those green strips are just an eyesore.
Wigan may well struggle as Championship new-boys this season and, if they do, this kit will definitely be forgotten in a hurry.
