The stats that prove Ousmane Dembele does shoot better with his right foot

Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele was not kidding when he declared he shoots better with his right foot.

The 21-year-old French international was Barça’s hero as they claimed the 2018 Supercopa de España.

Dembele struck a ferocious right-footed strike just outside the box 12 minutes from time which saw the Catalan giants come from a goal behind to beat Sevilla 2-1 in Tangier.

Comfortable with both feet, the Rennes graduate was asked in an interview (via Sport) during his time with the French outfit which is his prefered foot. Although Dembele feels he is left-footed, he takes penalties with his right because in his own words “I can shoot better with my right”.

And the numbers back him up, at least when it comes to his Champions League participation since the 2015/16 season. His conversion rate with his right foot stands at 16.8% compared to 14.1% with his left foot.

It’s not only goalscoring where his right foot is the stronger. Since turning professional in 2015, he has been involved in 61 goals for club and country.

So far boyhood club Rennes, Borussia Dortmund and Barça have enjoyed his talents at club level while he has collected 16 caps with the French national team, picking up a 2018 World Cup winners medal in the process.

If we break down his goals and assists with either foot it shows that Dembele has created 17 goals and scored 12 with his left (29 in total) but produced 16 goals and scored 16 with the right (32 in total).
