Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has delivered a message to his “landlord”, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.
Klopp goes head-to-head with the man he replaced in the Anfield dugout for the first time on Saturday when the pair manage the teams involved in ‘A Match For Cancer’ charity game at Celtic Park.
It is unlikely to be as fiery an affair as it would be if it was Klopp’s Liverpool side facing Rodgers’ Celtic side, but that didn’t stop the German delivering a light-hearted warning to Rodgers that the two “need a word”.
In a video recorded by Klopp, he said: “It will be fun for sure.
“Especially because I meet my landlord, I think for the first time since he left Liverpool and I came here. We have a lot of things to talk about.
“The plumbing issue, electricity, the pool and stuff like that. So Brendan, hope you are in good shape and we can sort a few things that day.”
After replacing Rodgers as Reds manager, Klopp moved into his home in Formby, just a short drive outside of Liverpool.
It is the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss’ first trip to Celtic Park, in a match that will see Celtic legend, Stiliyan Petrov – who has battled through Leukaemia since being diagnosed in 2012 – and Liverpool midfielder, James Milner put together opposing squads from the worlds of football and entertainment.
Every penny raised will be devoted to tackling cancer through three equal beneficiary charities – Celtic FC Foundation, the Stiliyan Petrov Foundation and the James Milner Foundation.
Team Petrov, managed by Rodgers, includes players such as Henrik Larsson, Scott Brown and Gareth Barry while the likes of Jamie Redknapp, Emile Heskey and John Terry will be playing for Team Milner, which will be managed by Klopp.
