Spurs target Jack Grealish is Aston Villa’s best player, according to James Chester

James Chester has described Jack Grealish as the most “talented player” at Aston Villa and is deserving of playing for a top Premier League club.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa since they failed to gain promotion via the playoffs last season.

Tottenham Hotspur are rumoured to be interested and Chester, who can see the midfielder gracing Mauricio Pochettino’s side, is in no doubt about Grealish’s talents.

“I think Jack is the most talented player at the club and deserves to be playing at the very top of the game,” he said (via Sky Sports).

“People forget he is still very young, but we know Villa will be a real threat to anyone in the division if he stays.

“It would be sad to see him go and I don’t know if he will now that the ownership of the club has changed.

“But I don’t think anyone should hold it against him if he ends up going to a top Premier League club.”

Since making his debut for his boyhood in May 2013 the Birmingham-born attacking midfielder has endured a topsy-turvy professional career with the Villans.

A string of problematic off-field behaviour has damaged his standing in the eyes of many supporters who dismissed him as another problem child.

However, he’s bounced back and played an integral role in Villa reaching the Championship play-off final last season, but Steve Bruce’s men narrowly lost 1-0 to Fulham.

To date Grealish, who has two years left on his present contract, has made 110 first team appearances scoring nine goals and creating a further 15.
