Chelsea star Willian has revealed that he would not still be at the club if former manager Antonio Conte had stayed this summer.
Conte left the west London outfit this summer after months of speculation and was replaced with ex-Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri.
Willian himself was linked with a move away from the club with Barcelona reportedly lodging transfer bids, only for Chelsea to turn them down.
With Conte away from the club, Willian has now revealed that if the Italian had stayed with the Blues, he would have had no choice but to move away from the club this summer.
Speaking to reporters (via ESPN) Willian said: “I’m here. I’m here because I want to play for Chelsea. I will only leave if Chelsea want me to go.”
Asked if he would still be at the club if Conte hadn’t left, Willian said: “No chance. No chance. No.”
Willian also touched on the effect Sarri has had since his arrival and on the aftermath of Chelsea’s 3-0 victory away against Huddersfield Town on the opening day of the season.
“We are just in the beginning,” he said.
“We know we have to improve. Jorginho has played very well. He has a lot of quality and helps our play build up from the back. I think we played very well.
“Now we have to continue like that because next week, we have a great game to play against Arsenal [on Saturday] and we want to win again.”
Chelsea’s next fixture is against Arsenal this Saturday.
