Arsenal confirm extent of Sead Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey injuries

Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac is set to be out for up to 10 weeks with a knee injury, the Premier League club have confirmed.

Kolasinac sustained the injury to his left knee in the Gunners’ 1-1 International Champions Cup draw with Chelsea on Wednesday, which they went on to win 6-5 on penalties.

The Bosnian had to be helped off the pitch with 20 minutes remaining following a collision with Victor Moses, worrying scenes for Arsenal fans with the Premier League season just over a week away.

And now, the Gunners have confirmed Kolasinac will be out for eight to 10 weeks with the injury, which would see him miss their crunch matches against Manchester City and Chelsea as well as, potentially, the start of the Europa League.

In the same brief statement, on the club’s official website, Arsenal also confirmed the status of Aaron Ramsey who missed the shootout win over Chelsea despite having initially been named in the starting line up.

The Welshman has developed a tightness in this right calf but the club are hoping he can be back in training for next week, ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester City on August 12.

Ramsey is in the final year of his current deal at Arsenal and, despite expressing his wishes to stay at the club, is yet to sign a new contract.

Before kicking off their Premier League season, Arsenal take on Lazio in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.
